On Thursday I went along to Catherine Slater's workshop at Littlethorpe Village Hall. There were seven of us from the Castle Textile group attending, we had an excellent day producing two completed books with hard backs and seven master copies of book pages without covers.
Catherine showed us how to colour tissue paper, stiffening it with light weight vilene.
Some of the folded books she showed us looked very complex but when broken down, step by step the complexity disappeared. Once we understood the folding procedure, any size book could be made,
We all had an enjoyable day with an excellent tutor, who gave lots of ideas to create our own unique books with our own personal finishes. Thank you Catherine. I can thoroughly recommend this course and look forward to the dates for a felt making workshop in the spring tutored by Catherine.
